Vanessa García is the Policy Analyst for DFER Colorado (DFER-CO). Within her role, Vanessa is responsible for tracking relevant statements and positions of policymakers, analyzing education policy changes and proposals at the local, state, and national levels, and reporting on policy and political implications. Before working with DFER, Vanessa was a fellow for Colorado State Senator Julie Gonzales during the 2021 Legislative Session through the Colorado Latino Leadership, Advocacy and Research Organization (CLLARO) where she helped develop social media updates, track bills, create memos on legislation, and manage constituent outreach.

Vanessa grew up in various areas of Colorado Springs, Colorado before relocating to Denver, Colorado to attend the University of Denver where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts with double majors in Socio-Legal Studies and Spanish and a minor in Critical Race and Ethnic Studies. She has since received her Master’s in Legal Studies from Pepperdine University’s Caruso School of Law. Outside of work, you can find Vanessa enjoying the beautiful nature Colorado has to offer, reading in a coffee shop, shopping, or spending time with loved ones.
