Prior to his role at Education Reform Now, Prateek taught in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina where his students received the highest achievement scores multiple years in a row. After spending six years in New Orleans, Prateek was admitted into the Doctorate of Leadership program at Harvard University.

After graduating, Prateek joined Education Reform Now-Colorado as the state policy director, where he wrote and helped pass legislation that expanded access to rigorous classes for low-income students, increased funding for school counselors to increase FAFSA completion rates, and wrote the bill for Colorado to be the first state in the country to ban legacy admissions in higher education. He then became the Executive Director of Teach For America – Colorado, leading the organization through a new strategic plan before joining the national Education Reform Now Policy team.
