ERNA Poll Shows Biden Leading in South
Biden up 10-percentage points in North Carolina, 4-percentage points in Georgia
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 10, 2020) — A new poll released today by Democrats for Education Reform partner organization Education Reform Now Advocacy and HIT Strategies shows Vice President Joe Biden leading President Donald Trump 47% to 37% among voters in North Carolina, and 44% to 40% among voters in Georgia. Among African American voters in the two states, Biden leads Trump by a whopping 66 percentage points.
When it comes to U.S. Senate races, Democrat Cal Cunningham leads Republican Thom Tillis in North Carolina by a 16-percentage point margin (48% – 32%), while in Georgia, the race for the Senate remains much more contested.
In the Georgia Senate race, Democrat Jon Ossoff leads Republican David Perdue 42% – 39%. In the Georgia Senate Special Election, Republicans hold the lead over Democrats, although a large portion of voters remain undecided:

- Republican Doug Collins – 18%
- Democrat Raphael Warnock – 14%
- Democrat Matt Liberman – 14%
- Democrat Ed Tarver – 6%
- Third Party Candidate – 1%
- Undecided – 23%
This 800-sample survey was conducted from July 23-31, and consisted of 400 registered voters each in Georgia and North Carolina from all political viewpoints with a 100-person oversample each of African Americans and parents. The survey was conducted via a double opt-in online panel.
