Nicole serves as Chief of Staff for Democrats for Education Reform , supporting a national team of organizers, advocates, policy experts and development professionals working to elect Democratic leaders who prioritize high-quality equitable education for students.
Prior to her work DFER, Nicole served as the Chief of Staff to Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, ensuring the advancement of key Mayoral initiatives and overseeing the day-to-day operations of 35 City departments. In this capacity she served as lead negotiator for the administration in budgetary, personnel and collective bargaining negotiations, oversaw strategic partnership development to reduce long-term deficits within the City budget and managed the shift to outcomes-based routines within City Departments.
Earlier in her career Nicole served in a variety of policy advisor, consultant and advocacy roles for organizations such as the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Clean Water Action, and the Providence Plan. Nicole has been an active board member on several boards including the Providence Business Loan Fund, Downtown Improvement DIstrict, West Broadway Neighborhood Association, Environmental Justice League of Rhode Island and currently serves on the Board of the Downtown Providence Parks Network. She has helped facilitate and lead committees for political transitions, bond campaigns and candidate campaigns and has provided facilitation and organizational development support for growing businesses and nonprofits in Rhode Island.
