December 5, 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
At its Nov. 18 annual meeting, the Imagine Schools national board of directors named Arizona resident Rhonda Cagle the organization’s Chief Communications and Development Officer.
Cagle, who has served as Imagine Schools’ Senior Vice President of Communications since 2013, will lead the national nonprofit charter school system’s fundraising, government relations, and communications functions.
“This shows the depth and quality of professionals in Arizona’s education landscape,” said Arizona Charter Schools Association President and CEO Eileen Sigmund. “Imagine Schools has a significant presence in Arizona and in the nation. Rhonda’s appointment as one of their chief-level officers illustrates the important role Arizona plays in bringing effective talent to the national education space.”
Imagine Schools is a national nonprofit, $340 million organization with more than 3,000 employees serving approximately 32,000 students in 11 states and the District of Columbia. Arizona is home to 13 Imagine campuses serving more than 8,700 K-12 students.
“DFER Arizona applauds Imagine Schools’ decision to appoint Rhonda Cagle as Chief Communications and Development Officer,” said DFER-AZ state director, Christina Martínez. “Whether she is fighting for our kids in the halls of a state capitol, or telling a story in the media, Rhonda is known for being a true champion for public school children.”
Cagle became affiliated with Imagine Schools in 2005. At the time, Cagle was founder of Write Ideas, a marketing communication practice serving nonprofit clients. Imagine Schools was her client and she served as communications consultant to the organization’s Southwest operations. Imagine Schools remained a client until Cagle was asked to join Imagine Schools’ national leadership team.
Since joining the national nonprofit charter network, Cagle has been instrumental in establishing Imagine Schools’ government relations and fundraising efforts. She also led the efforts to introduce Imagine Schools’ new national leadership team and academic initiatives to internal and external audiences, including authorizers, governing boards and departments of education in 11 states and the District of Columbia.
“It is an honor to work with such a dedicated team of professionals,” Cagle said. “I firmly believe Imagine Schools’ best days are yet to come. It’s a point of pride for me that we are bringing educational equity and opportunity to students who are often underserved and without quality options. This makes the work worthwhile.”
Cagle lives in Avondale, a suburb of Phoenix. She currently serves as a board member for the Arizona chapter of Democrats for Education Reform, a political reform organization that champions public schoolchildren.
