Democrats face a critical juncture in education policy. Over the
past decade, our party’s traditional advantage on education
has eroded—slipping from a 26-point lead over Republicans
to now trailing by 3 points. The perception among voters is
clear: Democrats have become entangled in ideological battles
that distract from efforts to improve educational outcomes for
students. Prolonged school closures damaged trust, leading
voters—including many in New Mexico—to question our
commitment to delivering real academic results for their children.
